serving
During this HOPE Youth Corps in Kenya we had the amazing opportunity to serve in many different capacities. We made teaching aids for the Nairobi Christian Academy, which we got to present to the children. We visited the slum of Mukuru and spent time encouraging the beneficiaries of JamQuest Hoops. We made home visits for the beneficiaries and got to meet their families. We worked with the HOPE center in Kenya, and spent time volunteering with the Nairobi Christian Church. We served in many different ways which allowed us to see many achievements and miracles happen.
Personally, I built many new skill sets through this internship! I learned what real service looks like, and true sacrifice. Visiting a third-world country allowed me to broaden my horizons to the work that needs to be done across the world. This experience helped me to grow in my understanding of cross-culture barriers, such as communication differences. Through the planning and implementation stages of this internship, I learned professionalism, time management, and event planning.
